Intellectual Property

Intellectual property interactive map

Information

Also, CCI professionals and companies must know the legal instruments open to them when considering the protection and management of intangible assets. For improved understanding of existing legal instruments from the Basque DCC, an interactive IP map is available:

  1. Intellectual property rights: Intellectual property is made up of personal and equity rights which attribute to the author of a work the full exercise and exclusive right to its exploitation.
  2. Industrial property rights: Industrial property rights grant the holders the exclusive right to exploitation, they apply to intangible assets and prevent others from exploiting these (exclusive and exclusionary rights).
  3. Particular rights on databases: Databases are considered collections of works, data, or other elements independently disposed systematically or methodically and individually accessible by electronic means or by other means.
  4. Other rights and instruments: although this category does not strictly enter in the category of intellectual property rights, they are relevant in its conception and use as an intangible assets management tool for CCIs. The major consideration must be trade secrets and image rights.
